johnson1. Who could possibly be the next British Prime Minister?

Give yourself a point if you wrote the name of any British citizen.
I looked up a betting site, which is giving odds for these people, in this order: Boris Johnson, Jeremy Corbyn, Dominic Raab, David Lidington, Michael Gove, Jeremy Hunt, Sajid Javid, Matthew Hancock.

prynne2. Who wore the Scarlet Letter?

You're supposed to say Hester Prynne - in Melville's unreadable 1850 novel. She had to wear an A for 'adultery' on her breast.
You might have had a cleverer answer: give yourself a bonus point if you did.

bateman3. Speaking of letters on breasts, which fellow wore these letters on her breasts while giving a talk in January 2019 during which she took off all her clothes: BREXIT LEAVES BRITAIN NAKED?

Victoria Bateman, who is a fellow of a Cambridge college (Gaius and Conville, I think). Male punters may wish to click/tap on the image for a larger version. It's from her own website. Bonus point if you lolled at 'fellow'.

4. What did James Ashby say his party would have in its hand 'at every given stage' in a recent meeting in Washington DC? For no points, name the party.

The Australian government's 'testicles'. (He was meeting with an Al-Jazeera journo posing as a gun campaigner.) You should have known he's chief of staff in Pauline Hanson's One Nation.

5. What is the name of the 'Christchurch shooter'?

Give yourself ten points if you didn't write a name. It's politically incorrect to name him (them?) Jacinda Ardern won't, and you shouldn't either.

6. Eddie McGuire, commenting on a football match between Sydney and Adelaide, said that the person tossing the coin didn't 'do it properly'. What is unusual about the coin-tosser?

Cynthia Banham has no legs, having had them amputated as a result of a 2007 Garuda plane crash. There may be something else unusual about her, but that's the standout (boom boom).

roma7. Winner of Best Cinematography at the 2019 Oscars won another major award: which? Bonus points for the name of the person and the film.

Alfonso CuarĂ³n also won Best Director (but not Best Film) for Roma. Best Film went to Green Book (Peter Farrelly), tho Spike Jones didn't think it should have won.

8. A Fremantle asset, built in 1939, was intended to last only five years. It is only now set to be replaced. What is it?

The Fremantle Traffic Bridge.

9. What is the name of the town that Thomas Peel's settlers hoped to establishment at Woodman's Point, south of Fremantle, after they arrived in 1830? That's a bit hard, so here's a clue to make it even harder: it was named for the man who became William IV.

Clarence. Before ascending to the thone, William was Duke of Clarence and St Andrews.

10. TV series Vera and Shetland were both based originally based on novels by which crime writer? If that's too hard, here's another clue. Her name might remind you of someone associated with Henry VIII.

Ann Cleeves wrote a series of novels about Vera Stanhope and other novels such as Red Bones featuring detective Jimmy Perez which were rewritten for TV. I was thinking of one of Henry's wives, Anne of Cleves (Anna von Kleve), who was merely annulled, not beheaded.
