Frank Campbell

Frank was a high achiever at Mod, coming ninth in the state on the basis of the rank of his General Exhibition. Then, in his own words:

I left Perth after finishing Uni and went to work for an Control Data Australia, the Australian arm of a Minneapolis based company, as a computer programmer. I spent a year or so in Minneapolis in 68-69 then returned and joined a start-up software company in Melbourne about 10 years before that was a really good idea. My wife and I produced three offspring in this period. The software company struggled along for about a decade or so then disbanded about the time it would have been a good idea to really get into it.

After a few years of various jobs, in 1986 somebody offered me a job in Anaheim, CA. I have now been here for 23 years and am a US citizen. I have had three jobs and morphed from software writer to sort-of hardware design engineer. My last company was a dot-com boom superstar.

I met my current partner, Holly, in 1988 and we have been living ever since in Long Beach. In retirement I have found my true calling which is just stuffing around. I also am back into model gliders. I build and fly large RC sailplanes.
